This was the first time in the history of the Games that the POWERade Jam Fest broadcasted live on national television on ESPN2. The 2009 McDonald’s All American POWERade Jam Fest took place on Monday, March 30, 2009 at the BankUnited Center on the University of Miami Coral Gables campus. The qualifying competition will was at 7 p.m. and the finals will aired live at 8 p.m. on ESPN2.

POWERade Jam Fest will featured members of the 2009 McDonald’s All American High School Basketball Boys and Girls teams participating in a series of high-intensity competitions, including a Three Point Competition, Slam Dunk Contest and the newly added Skills Competition.

Previous winners of the Slam Dunk Contest include LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Vince Carter, Baron Davis and, in 2004, Candace Parker who remains the only female contestant to win the competition. The McDonald’s All American Games are regarded as the premier showcase for the top high school basketball talent in the country.

Annually, 24 boys and 24 girls are selected from a pool of more than 2,500 nominees nationwide and chosen by a committee of basketball experts for demonstrating exceptional skills on and off the court. Visit the McDonald’s All American Games Web site for more information!
